Abstract:
Present day need is t9 plan for the future. Trans-portion system of a town or region is similar to the arteries of the human body. Highway net work planning is an, important part of the Transportation Planning. In highway planning, the first thing to' be predicted is the number of trips that will be made among various zones of the town or the "Trip Inter- changes".
In this study a hypothetical model town is taken covering almost all the activities. It to divided into 24 well de tined zones. Existing traffic data of the town is also assumed. Arbitrary values of the "Growth Pactors" of each zone are so selected as to give an overalll growth factor for the town to be approximately equal to 1.5. Based upon these values, population of the town for the design period of 10 years comes to be 04 mi . lion.
Presently there exist four "Mathematical Models" for estimating the trip interchanges. These models along with the ""Regression A alysia", whtch should be carried out in actual problem, are discussed. Computer programs for these models
are prepared*
