dc.description.abstract Mobility . speed. of displacement is an important factor indicating the development of an era - starting with the develop- ment of wheel upto the present day Rocket age. The speed which started as low as 5 km ./hour, took an upstart in 1903 with the invention of flying machine. With the continuous process of development and refinement in aerodynamics, it is expected the speed will increase to 3000 km/hour by the second millennium. Unfortunately the development of airports has not been so dynamic as to keept pace with speed and capacity of aircraft. Airport which is essentially the point of interchange in the airbraffic network, is primarily, a passenger handling building, apart from complex network of runways, control tower, hanger, cargo building, parking areas, fuel bases, workshop and a passenger handling building. The terminal building, at a commercial carrier airport has not only to handle the passengers and baggage in an efficient manner coherrent with the airtravel, this must hate an ambient character of a public building as gateway to the country, replete with civic pride as well as commercial venture in which success will be the efficiency and revenue potential. The airports in future shall have to be developed for the ever changing requirement of a dynamic airline industry with its incredible growth in traffic volume........................ en_US
