dc.description.abstract Interfacing X-Ray Diffractometer with Personal Computer using ainput/output card and two 16-bit counters are described in this dissertation. The two 16-bit counters suitable for the I/O card are designed and fabricated. The pulses from X-Ray Diffractometer (whose number depends on diffraction condition)are thus stored in P.C. and a graph is also displayed on P.C. monitor in real time through a software developed in BASIC. The peak's angles i.e. Bragg Angles of the compounds are calculated from these stored counts by second software developed in BASIC. By determining these Bragg angles from the previous software, the compound was identified by searching these angles from the already created library in dBASE III PLUS through the third software. On the basis of three test runs, it is observed that the total system is quite reliable. Future suggestions are also made for further improvements. en_US
