Abstract:
The construction of the major Hydro-electrical projects, already built during, successive Pive Year Plans, almost inevitably introduced very considerable changes in the appearance of the Rural Project areastbecause of their predomi-nant form in the landscape. However little attention is paid to the Architectural design and related aesthetics of these projects.
PowerHouses, transmission lines and substations etc. because of their size and nature have considerable impact on the surrounding country and resultant change in the landscape. They are appreciated or criticized according to their forms and features. The good communications have brought many forwarding remote power-houses, within an easy visiting distance of the public. It is probable that it may be visited by considerable number of people; It always pays to develop attention to seour-ing a pleasing architectural effects, to harmonise with the landscape, and use these minimum investment to secure a recrea-tional and working benefits, beyond and above those benefits for which they are being designed at present.
