Abstract:
Overflow of sewer in residential areas poses great challenges to sewer network operators, i.e. municipalities. The damage caused by overflow from sewer networks can be enormous due to high quality additions and installations in basements and underground car parks. A real-time system is essential because of the limited data availability and non-scalability of conventional sewerage flow monitoring systems. A growing trend in smart cities is the installation of city services monitoring.
A framework of Web-GIS for the smart sewerage system is presented. The framework focuses mainly on web and J2EE technologies. Construction ideas for data structure are discussed. The system can provide a user-friendly operating environment with many advantageous characteristics such as sewerage design and planning, dynamic state analysis, visual data management and real-time monitoring. It can be used as an effective tool for sewer network management.
