Abstract:
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) has become an active area of research aimed at protecting pedestrians and drivers. ADAS and ACC (Advanced Cruise Control)
systems offer a means to improve the state of many features connected with modern
driving but most importantly, it aims to enhance active and integrated safety. In this
dissertation, a method of estimation of range, velocity and direction of the preceding
vehicle based on edge detection, has been discussed. Various algorithms for estimating
the parameters have been investigated and the respective limitations are also discussed.
The objective is to develop an algorithm which can be implemented on low-cost hardware so that these systems aren't only limited to luxury and high-end cars.
