dc.description.abstract This dissertation deals with the development of an inversion algorithm for 2D EM data using Immersed Interface Method. The implementation of forward modelling shows appropriate results and the inverse problem gives results in agreement with the established results. Part 2 of the dissertation deals with the deformation at MAIT( Maitri ), an Indian GPS site in Antarctica during the period January 2015 to February 2016. According to the study the plate motion at the site is 6mm/year North, and 2 mm/year East. This is in close agreement with previous studies. en_US
