dc.description.abstract The recent trend in renewable energy source small hydropower has gain a success in rural electrification where the extension of grid require a huge investment in infrastructure because it is cost effective and decentralize system, it deliver electricity to millions of people and elevate poverty improve life standard and create jobs. The induction motor is the widely used electric machines, and it is known to be reversible and can operates as induction generator, for autonomous operation The self-excited induction generator (SEIG) are found be most suitable machines for energizing isolated locations using locally available renewable energy due to the advantages well known, Dynamic analysis of self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a constant torque from hydro turbine is carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK to predict the performance of SEIG under different conditions, this dissertation aim to study the research papers done by various researchers in analyzing the performance of self-excited induction generator (SEIG) and its behavior under various conditions, also show the process of self-excitation and voltage build up in the induction machine, the study is based on d-q axis synchronous reference frame equivalent circuit which is driven from state space model, the arbitrary reference frame is considered to be rotating with stator angular frequency. The model developed using “SimPowerSystems” library from SIMULINK to perform the simulation and the dynamic analysis of self-excited induction generator (SEIG). en_US
