Abstract:
Day by day need of energy is growing whether it is in form of fossil fuel or as indirect source electricity. As electricity is the vital component of growth and development for the country. The per capita income is the symbol of status of living hood. In developing country like India where about 70 % of the population lives in villages, the per capita is very less as compared to the developed country like USA. In India there are still about 90000 villages unelectrified as of data from 2010. Though in the current budget it has been proposed to electrify every village by the end of 2018. If conventional electricity connection isn’t possible to these remote area, renewable resources like solar, wind, small hydro can provide a alternative source to fulfil the needs.
As most of the developing nations are having low reserves of fossil fuels, which they are purchasing at expense of their foreign reserve. For electrification of off sites the use of renewable energy is increasing day by day. But using a single source to produce power as a whole can result in non-availability of power in some situations. As the solar pv or solar thermal can’t provide power in night or in cloudy days whereas wind turbine also stops producing power if the wind speed comes below cut in speed. In case of small hydro power generation is periodic in nature as may vary from rainfall cycle. So a need arises to club these resources as to gain continuous supply of electricity.
This thesis work is carried out an existing hybrid power system. The cost of Energy generated is carried out taking into consideration the operation and maintenance of plant and on the basis of energy resource data and cost of unit energy generation from each of the source & also the load pattern of the system, MATLAB is used to schedule the electric load of power plant for minimized cost of per unit of Energy generated.
