In order to produce high quality product in .bulk, the process line in the modern industry is becoming more and more complex and expensive. To minimise the production loss and to preserve the desired quality of product it has become necessary to have highly reliable and precisely controlled machinery. Electric drive is one of the main installation in almost all types of industries.
The recent developments in semiconductor electronic components have revolutionised the elctric -drive systems and the new generation of drives called as solid state control electric drives have over shadowed the conventional drive systems.
In the present work, various a.c. and d.c. motor solid state control drives are discussed with their detailed block diagrams as regard their operation, performance and applica-tions. Reliability block diagrams are deduced and reliability and mean time between failures are estimated. And a comparative study of drives having different control circuitry is conducted. |
