Abstract:
An acoustic OFDM modem is very useful for an acoustic environment. The ability to effectively communicate through acoustic waves has numerous applications for researchers, marine commercial operators and defence organizations.
An OFDM Modem has been designed. The transmitter and receiver has been implemented using Lab-View and MATLAB software. The Doppler shift compensation techniques are also implemented and attached with the receiver. This is done to overcome the main drawback of OFDM Modem that is sensitivity to Doppler shift. Due to Doppler shift the carriers are no longer orthogonal resulting complete lose of information.
The OFDM Modem is tested in software using different parameters. Finally OFDM Modem is tested in real channel using microphone as receiver and speakers as transmitter. The better results can be achieved by designing specific hardware according to the application.
