Abstract:
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) of Cast Al (Mg)—A1203 particulate composite has been investigated in respect of Heat Input. The composites have been synthesized in the laboratory here by stircasting technique and the plates from ingots have been used for joining in a butt joint. During Continuous Current GMA welding under the effect of high electric current the particle from the base material ejected out of the weld pool towards the nozzle. Under the effect of particle ejection the welding Arc found to be disturbed by the presence of porosity. This behavior has been found to badly affect the mechanical properties of the weld joint due to excessive presence of porosity caused by the particle ejection. The Pulsed current GMA Welding the particle ejection is restricted due to mass transfer here is in the pulses and also the welding arc found less disturbed as compared to continuous current GMA Welding process.
