Abstract:
The investigated area 1 isa mainly in the eat
northeast and southeast of Rishikesh town (300 ' 15" ?8°h' "), District Deh radon, Uttar Pradesh. The investigated region covers an area of nearly forty one square kilometers lying between the latitudes 30'1 4'OO" and 3008100it North and
longitudes 78° 'SO'" and 78 aSt and forms a part
of the Die trot Pauri Garhwal, V.p. The area 1s Included
in the Survey of India Toposheet. No.83 .
The nearest railhead is Rishikesh which can be reached from Dehradun or De ll i by bus or train. The important pl ac ° of piligriruage in this area is Siisrgaehram on the southern bank of river Gar3g& and can be approached by ferry from I4zni.ki-fteti which is 3 kilometers from lUsbikesh on Ri a4kesh'-Bad math rotten, the terry service remains suspended during rainy season and then the only link is a suspension bridge known as Laohhm 3h a which la 6 kilometers 'rc Rishikesh and on be reached by bus. The old Badrinath path pas sees through this area along the southern bank of river Ganga. A motorable road is being constructed from Ksrdwar to Lachhaan.. 3h+cJ1a which in due course of time will be constructed upto Kotdwar s$ that there will be a direct road connection between Bards and Kotdvar through this area.
