dc.description.abstractA mobile ad hoc network is an autonomous, fully self-organized, wireless network, independent of any infrastructure. Nodes in the mobile ad hoc networks are personal devices that provide functionality of both terminals and nodes in the network called terminodes. To make them widely used, it must be able to scale up to millions of units, without any fixed backbone or server. Here we considered the problem of routing in a mobile wide area network called Terminodes Network, We presented a routing protocol for such networks, in when every node has to develop its own personal view of the current network topology, composed of local and remote views of the network. The routing is done in two steps viz. Terminode Local Routing (TLR) and Terminode Remote Routing (TRR). Here TRR uses Anchored Geodesic Packet Forwarding Technique (AGPF) to forward the packets towards remote destination. In this dissertation performance of the Terminode Routing Protocol has been studied to evaluate the effect of the nodes' rate of mobility on packet delivery ratio. Finally, we suggested a probing mechanism to find shorter path in order to reduce average path length.en_US
