dc.description.abstract | In recent years, indoor radio propagation has been studied extensively for the evaluation of the different transmission systems for the application in universal portable phones and wireless local area network (WLANs). Indoor radio propagation studies can be performed either in time domain or in frequency domain. Wideband and narrowband measurements have been performed for frequency domain modeling of the indoor radio channel. Channel impulse response has been computed by taking the inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) of the frequency response of the channel. Power delay profile has been computed from, impulse response and IFFT of the autocorrelation of the frequency response and compared with each other. Narrowband measurements have been performed at 3.3, 3.6 and 3.9 GHz for the three different situations i.e. line of sight (LOS), Gallery (GAL) and obstructed (OBS) path. Measurements results are then compared to check the effect of frequency and measurement sight on wave propagation. The ray tracing technique to simulate the wave propagation inside a building is presented. A computer program has been developed for ray tracing and applied to simulate the radio channel parameters. Simulation results have been compared with the measurement results to check how good are the results obtained from the simulation. It has been demonstrated that the ray tracing technique can indeed be used to study an indoor channel, | en_US |
