For the performance of a multistage interconnection network the length of the network cycle is the fundamental entity to be considered. The network cycle of buffered multistage network is made up of two phases, one to check buffer space availability and second to shift the cells. For performance enhancement of Omega multistage interconnection networks, the effect of Unit Step Buffering scheme over the Multiple Step Buffering scheme in Phase 2 of the network cycle is studied in this dissertation work. Extensive simulation of all possible combination schemes for the both phases of the network cycle has been conducted. It is found that there is better utilization of available network bandwidth for the Small Clock Cycle/ Unit Step Buffering scheme for the uniform traffic conditions.en_US
