Abstract: Microstrip antennas are extremely good for use in various applications because of their several attractive features such as low cost, light weight, conformability and their compatibility with solid state devices etc. Among them slot antennas have played an important role for a variety of radar and satellite communication applications. The main advantages of radiating slot are wider bandwidth, less interaction via surface waves, better isolation and negligible radiation from feed line network. In the present work, experimental investigations were carried out for the rectangular slot on a ground plane of the microstripline. Antenna has been investigated by increasing width of the slot in steps. Various experimental results have been presented here on VSWR, Impedance bandwidth, Beamwidth, Co — polar and Cross — polar radiation patterns of antenna operating at 2.4 GHz. For numerical analysis of the wide rectangular slot in a ground plane of the microstripline, the moment matrix formulation and various matrix elements have been presented, here. By using there expression, program has been written in C++ and numerical results are presented
