Being online and still able to communicate is a major requirement of today, since the future infrastructure for this communications seems to be based on IP networks, mobility needs IP mobility. To provide such IP mobility, a protocol called Mobile IP was created It is a mechanism for maintaining transparent network connectivity to mobile hosts. Mobile IP protocol enables a mobile host to be addressed by the IP address it uses in its home network (home IP address), regardless of the network to which it is currently physically attached. Therefore, ongoing network connections to a mobile host can be maintained even as it is moving from one subnet to the other. In this dissertation, we have studied and implemented the required mechanisms for Encapsulation i.e. Tunneling and Routing of IP Datagrams to a Mobile Node through Home agent and Foreign agent, once it has been discovered and registered. Home agents and foreign agents support tunneling datagrams using IP in IP encapsulation. Triangle routing and reverse tunneling is implemented. The implementation has been done is `C' on a `Linux' platform. It has been tested on test bed network setup using Pentium IV, 2Ghz, and 256 MB RAM machinesen_US
