With recent advances in wireless communication technology, mobile computing is an increasingly important area of research. Enabling mobility in IP networks is a significant issue for making use of many portable devices appearing on the Internet. Mobile IP has been, designed within the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to serve the needs of the population of mobile computer users who wish to connect to the Internet and maintain communication as they move from place to place. The Mobile IP protocol consists of three component protocols: Agent Advertisement, Registration, and Tunnelling [1, 2]. The work reported in this dissertation, evaluates the performance of Mobile IP with Mobile Routing Table, this protocol is an alternative to the Route Optimization proposal for Mobile IP, in order to alleviate the Triangle routing problem (asymmetric routing), and the packet Retransmission scheme is implemented to reduce the packet loss during handoff [1, 2]. Performance measure like Number of packet loss, total amount of payload Loss is studied for the MIP with Mobile Routing Table protocol. During the liando(T, the packets in transit may be lost because there is no way that the entire Correspondent nodes mobility agent receives updated bindings reflecting the node's movement immediately. In order to reduce the packet loss during the handoff packet buffers are used at the foreign agent, and compared the number of packet loss for different buffer sizes. The program is developed using .Turbo C++ on the WINDOWS 9x environment on Pentium III PC with 128MB RAM.en_US
