In the present 'INFORMATION AGE', it is an essential infrastructure for growth of economy, trade and commerce in any country and is a prime source of cultural enrichment. It is not a product of growth in economy but an important input which engineers such a growth. Telecommunication in long run is a prime mover of growth and source of prosperity. It is characterized by continual change and development. The growth of telecommunication in India will be governed to a large extent by rapid changes in social and economic spheres and by the accelerated pace of technological changes as evident world over.
