Abstract: With the proliferation of compact and portable computers, mobility of hosts connected to the Internet. is becoming an important issue. These mobile hosts often migrate during active data transfer and expect the network to manage these migration with minimum disturbance to ongoing data session. A Location management scheme of such a frequently migrating mobile host has been proposed in [1]. Routing of mobile host was changed to efficiently locate mobile host. This reduces expensive accesses to distant Home Agent ,which effectively reduces location management cost and packet loss .In. this dissertation a modified scheme is proposed for frequently migrating Internet host to achieve low location cost and packet loss. Modified scheme reduces the number of route up-date packets destinated to gateway. In this scheme location change is reported to a nearby routing cache instead of gateway, thus repeated access to gateway is avoided. Simulation results indicate that propose scheme successfully reduces the location management cost and packet loss when mobile host migrate frequently. Simulation is done in language `C++' under Red Hat Linux 6.1 operating system.
