During the past few years, the token ring, technique has emerged as an important technology for local area networking. It has many advantages over other LAN techniques. Token rings have the potential to provide efficient, cost effective, reliable & versatile communication. This thesis comprises the study of flow control in local area networks of Interconnected Token rings. The performance data presented in this study is the Mean message delay, Total throughput, Inter-ring throughput and Intra-ring throughput. To achieve high throughput, bridges perform only a very simple routing and store-and-forward function, but are not involved in error or flow control. In case of congestion bridges discard arriving frames. Performance of network can be improved by Dynamic flow control algorithm. The simulation software is written in "C" _language and runs in UNIX environment.en_US
