Proteins are responsible for all the activities going inside body of an organism. Proteins in the body are generated from DNA of an organism. Complete DNA is not responsible for generation of proteins. Only a few part of DNA, known as protein coding region or genes, generates protein. Identification of protein coding regions involves use of computational techniques for finding genes in whole DNA. A lot of research is going on the use of signal processing techniques for solving problems related to molecular biology. Signal processing techniques have been used to identify protein coding regions in DNA sequences. In this dissertation we will study application of fourier techniques for identifying protein coding regions. Hidden markov models are among most successful techniques used for gene identification. In this dissertation we will use a new approach for gene prediction which is based on combination of wavelet transform and hidden markov modelen_US
