Efforts are underway to enhance the Internet with Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities for transporting real-time data. Reservation of resources and the maintenance of QoS for the mobile as it moves from one region to another create a new set of challenges. The ReSerVation Protocol (RSVP) provides a signaling mechanism for end-to-end QoS negotiation in Internet, RSVP when used in mobile IP suffers from problems like RSVP signal message invisibility and resource path invalidation, to cater to these problems some solutions on standard RSVP have been proposed, like Mobile Resource Reservation Protocol (MRSVP) which make advance resource reservation at multiple location, the mobile host may possibly visit during the lifetime of the connection. The further enhancement of this protocol called Hierarchical Mobile RSVP (HMRSVP) embedded the concept of Mobile IP regional registration and does advance reservation at multiple sites only when an inter-region movement may possibly occur. But still they suffer from problem of making excessive reservation requirement and considerable functional modification in the existing interne protocols. A rather simple approach in Concatenation and Optimization for Reservation Path (CORP) is making reservation to neighboring Base Stations in anticipation of the MH's movement and concatenating it to the existing RSVP session for guaranteeing continuous QoS support. But this also suffers from problem of excessive reservation. In this dissertation, I further extended the CORP protocol, adding to that the Low Latency Handoff called proactive handoff (post registration). This includes making reservation only at the time of layer 2 handoff and deferring the registration at new forei'gn agent. Simulation results proved that this approach results in fewer reservations and less modification to existing Internet, with minimum handoff delay and better performance at higher load as compared to other approaches stated above. The simulation software is developed on Microsoft Visual C++ environment using language C++ on Window XP.en_US
