Abstract: The circularly polarized microstrip antennas are widely used in many communication applications such as radio mobile communication, satellite communication. LAN, WAN etc. The microstrip antennas in spite of their low gain, narrow bandwidth drawbacks are becoming more and more important because of their light weight, low volume, thin profile configuration which can be easily made configurable. Out of various methods available for Circular polarization, slits and comer perturbation is more simple and attractive. This report presents design, fabrication and performance evaluation of three microstrip . patch antennas having slits and tapered corners for the circular polarization operation and their petformance have been compared with that of a square patch antenna of same length (L) and width (W). The experimental and computed results have been shown and discussed. To evaluate the performance numerically, FDTD method has been chosen because of its own advantages. The surface field components have been computed and results show the propagation of TM wave on the surface. The radiation pattern show the circular polarization nature.
