Future wireless communication services need a technology, which can support every type of services, for this purpose we can use IP technology as it supports every type of services. The fluctuation in resource availability in 3G wireless networks is much more severe in comparison of wired networks so for adaptive nature of multimedia applications. This thesis addresses adaptive resource allocation with guard channel mechanism that allocates connection resources for incoming calls utilizing bandwidth degradation and compensation to meet continuous QoS requirements under given network conditions with channel reservation for handoff calls for providing QoS to ongoing calls. The objective of the adaptive resource allocation with guard channel mechanism is to improve resource utilization while keeping dropping probability as low as possible with very little compromise in blocking probability, because dropping of ongoing call is more irritating then blocking of new callen_US
