Abstract: In recent years, database technology has been applied to applications outside the realm of data processing. These applications are computer aided design, multimedia, office information systems and expert database system. As the time passes need for changing not only the data but also the schemes of database arises. To meet the above challenges a new type of data model is designed which is based on object oriented features. Object oriented data model is an adaptation of the object oriented programming paradigm to database systems. It is based on the concept of encapsulating data, and code that operates on that data, in an object. In this dissertation a scheme of designing an object oriented database for inventory has been proposed. This is an bottom up approach starting from the services needed by the user. This scheme fills the gap between the user's view and the designer's view. On implementing this scheme considerations for integrity, security and concurrency has also been made.
