Abstract: n this dissertation, Radar Cross Sections (R.C.S.) of simple and complex targets are discussed. The theoretical estimation of R.C.S. of scale model of an aircraft is carried out at X-band and Ku-band frequencies for various aspect angles, by sum-of-components approach. The Radar Absorbing Material (R.A.M.) is used to reduce R.C:S. of targets. R.C.S. is measured for uncoated and coated plates. The reduction in R.C.S. for flat plate is estimated theoretically and the results are compared with the experimental results. Microwave Absorbing Paint (M.A.P.) was also applied to different convex smooth targets. The R.C.S. reduction for the case of coated sphere is calculated; theoretically. Two methods are used for Radar Cross Section measurement of targets in laboratory in X-band and Ku-band. R.C.S. is calculated by measuring reflected powers for different targets. In the second method R.C.S. is calculated by measuring scattering parameter in Time Domain by Network Analyser and then calculating R.C.S. of targets using a reference target (sphere). The R.C.S. of coated targets is calculated and the 'reduction in R.C.S. of these targets is observed.
