dc.description.abstractIn organizations with geographically widely dispersed units and multiple computers connected by telecommunication lines, the performance as a result of having to access a central site to fetch any data in the 'database was found to be unacceptable. Requirements of such organizations gave birth to the idea of distributing the data across -the computer network.
