Powerful tools are needed to help designer in evaluating the ways in which the systems behave and judging the advantages of architectural choices may yield with respect to others. The job response time is one such tool to evaluate the performance of parallel programs on multiprocessor systems, whose operational characteristic is the existence of precedence relations. The main objective. of this dissertation is to develop a simulation system which evaluates the performance of concurrent programs on multiprocessor systems composing of a finite homogeneous processors, particularly the response time for jobs consisting of concurrent tasks. Each task is assumed to require an exponentially distributed amount of processing. The concurrency and precedence relations are described by the directed acyclic graphs, referred to as task graphs or precedence graphs. A simulation system is developed which evaluates the job response time of a concurrent program on a multiprocessor system. The simulation results are compared with the results given in literature and found to be in agreement.en_US
