Abstract: Passive RLC filters were replaced by active RC filters because of obvious disadvantages associated with inductors. Further, in active RC filters, resistors occupied a large chip area restricting the size of the filters to truely sub-miniature dimension. Hence resistors were replaced by switched capacitor networks. In this dissertation, the theoretical study of the basic operation of switched capacitor networks & properties of various circuit building blocks have been carried out, which is followed by nodal analysis of switched capacitor networks using nodal charge equations. Further the switched capacitor resistor equivalence is demonstrated, experimentally. A software package has been developed in FORTRAN-77 language, to analyze switched capacitor networks of transfer functions ranging from lower order to higher order polynomials. Similar study is carried out using commercially available circuit simulation program such as SPICE. To use this program Z domain equivalent circuit is converted into continuous circuit. The results obtained from SPICE program are in complete agreement with the results obtained from FORTRAN 77 program.
