Issue Date: 1993
Abstract: This dissertation takes a look at the problem of providing location transparent access to files residing on remote machines in the case of a Distributed File System. A look Is also taken at the possible methods of accessing files in such an environment. In a Distributed File System, where machines transfer files from the remote server and cache them locally, a mechanism for faster intimation-of•-updation to clients, by the file server, is suggested. A method of improving the response time is also suggested by parallely communicating with clients
