dc.description.abstractThe inherent advantages of signal processing, transmission and storage in digital form combined with rapid strides made in digital ICf technology and Digital Computers in turns during the last few decades has ushered in digital era. Video data is no exception to this general trend. The field of digital image processing can be broadly classified into [1] . (1) Image Enhancement (2) Image Restoration (3) Image Recognition and Interpretation (Image Analysis) (4) Image Compression In image enhancement, the objective is to process the image so that the result is more suitable for a specific application. In image restoration, the purpose has been to recover an image that has been degraded, by using some prior knowledge of the degradation phenomenon. Image analysis 'is a process of discovering, identifying and understanding patterns that are relevant to the performance of an image based task.en_US
