Issue Date: 1992
Abstract: The functional languages are the probable condidate for future generation computers based on parallel processing. Functional language programs are based on the composition of the functions and their application on data. As they lack the notion of assignment, they exhibit more inherent parallism than conventioal language programs. This work. deals with the development of the software for lazy evaluation of functional programs written in HOPE. HOPE is a. higher order functional language. The software firstly checks for the syntax errors of HOPE program and then the lazy evaluation of the program is done in which the evaluation of the argument is dealyed until it.is required and argument is evaluated upto the point, the main function needs. The lazy evaluation of the some programs which have an infinite list as their argument, will give the terminating result in place of untermineting result of the problem
