In this dissertation a space division packet has been simulated for its performance analysis. The performance of both input and output queueing for this switch have been studied. It is established through simulation that output queueing is better than input queueing, but it requires a switch speed N times that of input and output trunks for a switch of size N. Such switch speeds are infeasible for large switches. In this dissertation an attempt has been made to obtain the same performance at a lower switch speed by combining input and output queueing in the same switch. For this study mean waiting time of packets, queue length, throughput and packet losing cpacity were considered as performance measures, Satisfactory results were obtained at a modest switch 4 times that of input and output trunks.en_US
