The process of developing a database structure from user requirements is called database design. This dissertation presents the design of the Student Affairs (S. A) and General Cash section of the University of Roorkee. The package is provided as a suit of dBASE III plus DBMS programs, implemented on. a PC/AT system. The following major categories of information are provided by the system - (1) Student information storage and Retrieval (21 Scholarship & Contingency calculations & reports (3) Classification & statements of dues and fees. The package developed is thoroughly interactive and menu driven. Information, both in summarized and detailed form, either as hard copy or on the screen, can be obtained at the press of a. key. This package can also be run in FOXBASE 2.0 version, simply by renaming all NDX files to IDX files. The package presently uses 50 records, each of length 4.30bytes, but demostration runs show that it can accommodate all 3000 students of U.Q.R., needing approximate 2.0 MB of external storageen_US
