Abstract: Multistage Interconnection Networks (MINs) find their use in multiprocessing, packet switched voice/data communication etc. The reliability of these system depends very much on MINs. Hance the study of MINs has become very important topic. In the proposed dissertation the following MINs have been design using 4 x 4'switches and their performance is analysed. 1. Extra Group Network (EGN), 2. No Extra Group Network (NEGN), 3. Augmented Shuffle Exchange Network (ASSN) The result ot-)t.zined show th:~t (a.) Performance of ,GN and NEGN is same under fa.ultfree operating conditions. (b) Overall performance (under f aul tf ree operating condition) of ASEN is better than that of EGN & NEGN. (C) All these networks are fault.-tolerant.. In case of NEGN and ASEN the performance is gracefully degraded under fault condition.. However, the performance remain more or less unaffected by tault. conditions- (except group faults) for
