dc.description.abstractPacket Switching is a method of passing relatively small packets that are generated by one system and then passed to another. It is a technique often used in computer networks where the modules are geographically separated. In this dissertation work, the use of packet switching techniques in high bandwidth interconnection networks is examined by concentrating on a single class of inter-connection networks, called delta networks. The perfor-mance of these networks is carried out using simulation by changing the parameters that define its structure, size and capacity. This performance is characterized in terms of how much information can be passed through a network in a given period of time, i.e. throughput, and also how long it takes for a typical packet to pass through it, i.e., delay.en_US
