Title: IMPLEMENTATION OF A GENERAL CONCURRENCY CONTROL ALGORITHM FOR DISTRIBUTED DATABASES
Authors: Kadwe, Prashant S.
Keywords: ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING;CONCURRENCY CONTROL ALGORITHM;DISTRIBUTED DATABASES;TWO PHASE LOCKING AND TIMESTAMP ORDERING
Issue Date: 1989
Abstract: The concurrency control has become an issue of prime importance in a distributed database environment. The concurrency control problem in database systems has been examined by many people and several concurrency control algorithms have been proposed. The most popular algorithms are two phase locking and timestamp ordering. A more general concurrency control algorithm has been implemented in the present work on PC—XT/AT using "C" language. Two phase locking and timestamp ordering represent the two special cases of this algorithm. The different sites have been simulated in order to allow Users to perform transactions concurrently before invoking this algorithm.
