Enormous power of computers can be used to help change the present state of education. Earlier application of compu-ters in education resulted in CAI systems. Application of Al techniques to CAI give rise to ICAI. ICAI overcomes the 0 limitations of CAI and paves the path for development4educa-tion using computers. It gives rise to individualized instruc-tion through machine. In this dissertation framework for developing Intelli-gent tutoring system of mathematics in general, and for Vedic Mathematics in particular, has been developed. At the same time possibility of using Vedic Mathematics for developing computational algorithms, and its other uses in computational technology have been explored. The realization of Intelligent Tutoring system required the development of strategy for modelling the teaching process. It uses the collection of rules, facts and knowledge in other forms. A student model has been incorporated so that tutor can frame its teaching strategies for individual students. While exploring the possibility of using Vedic Mathe-matics in computational algorithms, an algorithm has been developed for solving ordinary differential equations of any order, which is fast and efficient. It is envisaged that Vedic Mathematics can be used for developing fast, efficient and simple algorithms,. and these algorithms can also be implemented in hardware. It is also envisaged that ICAI will be able to compete the human tutor's performance or even surpass it in the course of time.en_US
