Abstract: A problem of practical interest in electromagnetics is the analysis of transverse aperture-type discontinuities in a waveguide, since they are utilized in the design of microwave filters, transformers, corrugated structures etc. Dielectric filling is often used to modify the characteristics of the discontinuity or to produce hermetically sealed sections of the waveguide. Over the years, a number of techniques have been developed for their analysis which include integral trans... form methods, variational method, the principle of conservation of complex power, and the method of moments. In this work, a moment procedure is presented for .the analysis of thick ,dielectric..filled windows in. a waveguide. The method is based oi& the generalized network formulation for aperture problems. Equivalence theorem, in conjunction with the boundry conditions, is used to set up two coupled integro_ differential equations. These are then reduced to matri, form using the method of moments, The above formulation has been used to write a general computer code.. The discontinuity has been characterized by its scattering matrix from which an equivalent T-network represen_ tation is found.
