Abstract: Communication of pictorial information has steadily risen in the last decade and has taken variety of fo s. Broadcast television has assurned a dominant role in our everyday life. So .t is natural that in `-,.inking of picture communication we immediately think of television signal that is broadcast in to the home. The picture signals when transmitted in analog form suffers severe attenuation and are effected by noise. There are advantages in digitizing it for processing as well as transmission-. Of course, such a digitized signal is converted back to analogue signal for display'. Digital processing allows the best use of integrated-circuit - technology,,.. This dissertation deals with the sub Nyquist coding technique for colour video signals and then considers hardware implementation of sub Nyquist sampling system. The system has been implemented with ordinary components and TTL integrated circuits•, The sampling rate of 8.86 MHz (2 fs.c)' has been chosen. This system has been tested for colour video signals,.
