dc.description.abstractBandwidth — and power — efficient modulation has been one of the most important research subjects for possible application in satellite communications. Mini-mum shift keying (MSK) has gained increasing popularity in such situations. A class of signals can be obtained by changing baseband pulse shaping of MSK in such a way as to still maintain its constant envelope, property. This dissertation considers the design and implementation of an MSK modem. The performance of MSK and a few other constant envelope signals in linear channels has been simulated.
