Abstract: In this dissertation an attempt has been made to design and implement a translator for C -- language. The main features of C --language include economy of expression, modern control flow and data structures and a rich set of operators. The host language being used is BASIC and implementation is done over BBC micro computer system'. The designed translator is modular• Thus a procedure can be tested and ,modified without changing the main program or other modules.- The reason for writing a C to BASIC translator and not a compiler is the portability and ease of implementation. Moreover many micro _computers posses BASIC language, this translator can be used with them with little modifications. Compilers invariably require large amount of memory and disk space, a situation not favourable with many micro computers.
