Abstract: During the last few decades, the field of education has drawn upon the resources of computer technology in the development of Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI). Several techniques and systems have been developed to admi-nister CAI.to students and to prepare the computer based curriculum. A review of the various CAI systems developed, is provided.. A CAI system is proposed and implemented on BBC microcomputer. The objective of the system is .. to relieve the course author of the burden of writing computer programs, and to ,reduce course preparation time. to present a pre-organized lesson, to change its contents according to students performance and to satisfy the student's requests. The level of sophistication and resources available to the student will depend on the, effort invested by the author. Recommendations for improving on the proposed CAI systems, are made.
