dc.description.abstractTelevision is accomplished by successively fxplozing different portions of the scene to be reprod-uced, using a 'camera' tube that at each instant develops a voltage proportional to the light intensity of the portion of the seen* under examination . The varying voltage that results from this scanning process Is amplified, modulated upon a carrier wave and is radia ted . The original scene is synthesized by the televii cion receiver on the fluorescent screen of a picture tube by causing the cathode ray spot to trace over successive portions of the reproduced scone in accardrr nce with the scanning of the original scene, while at the same time varying the brightness of the spot in accordance with the envelope amplitude of the received signal.en_US
