Computer Aided Design is the art of utilizing digital computers to help, generate, check and record the data and documents that constitute the design of a system. The objectives of computer aided design are cost and time reduction between start of design and completion of fabrication. These objectives are accomplished by relieving designers repeatitive, time consuming manual tasks. Design of digital systems using computer based techniques is a topic of ongoing research. One particular aspect, dealt within this thesis, is the automatic design of.sequential machine. This thesis is concerned mainly with computer aided design of sequential machines. In pursuance of this goal the following are presented: (i) Design and implementation of an algorithm for sequential machine minimisation. (ii) Program packages providing facilities to view the minimised machine on a graphic terminal or hard copy plotter. The package for minimisation and for obtaining the minimised view have been coded in FORTRAN using the DEC-2050 computer system. Details of usage of the package have been provided.en_US
