Abstract: The problem covered in this dissertation deals with the synthesis of n.ports networks by using more than (n+l)—node networks. The approach as presented here is restricted to resistive networks only but it is possible to extend it in many well known ways. In particular synthesis techniques realizing a conductance matrix of order n into a suitable network with more than (n+i) nodes are discussed. For this purpose a special class of real matrices is considered which is known as,, rest symmetric matrix. Within certain restrictions realization of this class of real matrices without ideal tranuformers is undertaken. Some suggestions for further improvements of the present results have been pointod out.
