Abstract: The last decade has witnessed impressive developments in digital signal processing technology and their applications in television systems. Equipments using digital techniques offer improved quality, reliability and multiple generation facility without signal degradation. As digital standards for television studio have been fixed by CCIPL a growing interest has been noticed during recent years. Nearly all the digital equipments, except Digital VTR's, have been developed and are in use in today's studios. This work includes the study of digital equipments, systems and some of the digital techniques employed in digital coding of the colour video signals. A practical problem of PAL colour components coding system has been realized successfully. Digital television techniques and systems are emerging fast. This work is just a beginning in this direction and the indicator of the fact that days are not far when the digital television system will be introduced in our Country.
