Abstract: This dissertation deals with the design of inductorless active filters based on the impedance scaling of the passive ladder- type structures. Both the grounded and floating Frequency- Dependent Negative- Resistance (FDNR) elements used in filter applications are realized using Generalised- Impedance - Converters (GIG) and experi-mental studies carried out regarding the bahaviour of FDNR elements (showing practically that an FDNR is a negative-resistance with its resistance varying inversly with the square of frequency). Some problems posed by the practical FDNR realization and further areas of investigation are outlined in the end.
